Server economic inflation after a year with nif2 weapon box

Title: [Reduce inflation of the server 2026, 2 suggestions]

Description:

Assumptions:
1.
Everything has been going to be more expensive.

  1. Item sold directly into npc (cash items like box from nif2, but there’s other boxes) cause inflation because more money on player’s hands

I will use bb as short example:

Base price BB was 1.3m each for a long time (more than 3 years) then it jumped into 2m each a time after implementation of the nif2 box. Other commodities are shadowdecon as it is related to BB.

Other items are drop rate shoes and safe to refine certificate and mvp cards (mvp sealed tickets as baseline used to be sub 500m)

My main idea is:

  1. tax raise: sub 1b vending tax will be 5% and above 1b vending tax will be 10%. for a year or until the inflation is again controllable (we should adopt FED and governmental attitude towards taxes and inflation in general). Could be done either gradually (e.g. 0.1% tax raise every week) or abruptly (i like the latter just saying but people would prefer the former)
  2. reduce prices of nif2 weapons box and nif2 weapons, among any other maps with easy cashflow, so zeny from noc stops flooding the server economy (muh should have better idea how much money is in the server currently on the common people economy)

Why is this a good idea?
reducing money on player’s hand on the server as a whole and make the prices affordable especially for newer players by introducing deflationary force instead of a rampant uncontrollable inflation.

What risks or downsides does it have?
Rich people that vends billions tier items will be affected by the billions tax(10%). Commodity seller will be affected by the tax(5% now instead of 3%). New player that farms nif2 will suffer because it will be nerfed. Everyone that vends will suffer in short medium term but long term economic stability and server longetivity is more easily imaginable, afterall it’s inflations that kills private servers, making ordinary items unaffordable to mew incoming players.

Please no, this incentivizes not selling items through vend and instead using the trade chat for anything that is valuable, which is incredibly uncomfortable and anti-QoL. I’m very happy that we finally started being able to sell valuable gears through vends thanks to the 1M Zeny update, which means QoL and transparency in item prices and less scams. A change like this would ruin it.

This one makes sense, but I’m conflicted… Because while it’s true that there’s some inflation, there’s also the ongoing trend of everything becoming more and more difficult to obtain over the years. Look at the endgame gears of 1-2 years ago and compare them to the new endgame gears, everything has become 10 times more difficult (and more build-specific which sucks for people who want to play multiple characters). And this is not because of the inflation, at least that’s not the main reason, it’s because kRO has been ramping up the difficulty like crazy with every new gear.

At this point reducing the zeny inflation would slightly reduce the price of everything including gears, which is good. But it’d also increase the difficulty of crafting gears even more. To me the server’s identity changed from being a very casual server a few years ago to being a pretty hardcore server now (especially for people who try to keep up with the gears of multiple characters), and I’m not sure if nerfing the zeny sources would be for the good or bad at this point.

How about targetting he multi Billionaires through a win-win solution? Like higher fee for new endgame craftable items or exclusive costumes. If you lower nif2 boxes it would not hurt those already rich but low end farmers. While raising the vending tax for high price items would only backfire like Jinbou mentions.

@Akin

higher fee for new endgame craftable items

I would dislike that too, since new endgame gears have been getting exponentionally harder to craft anyway, as I mentioned in my first post. Things are already getting ridiculous with how KRO keeps increasing the grind more and more for every new endgame gear, there’s no reason for our mid rate private server to go out of their way to make it even harder than it’s supposed to be.

@jinbou i see your points are valid especially for the transparency on high tier gears. These are hard topic indeed

@Akin targeting the billionaires are hard indeed. I would instead suggest that mvp cards are only transactional through vending so the 10% tax is forced and transparency is also forced [NEW IDEA BILLIONAIRES WILL HATE THIS AND I WILL HAVE MY HEAD ON BOUNTY LET’S GOOOOOO]

Someone pls tag muh so he will see this lmao jk

While vending too low will risk you RMT allegations so you can’t circumvent this measure without risks

@jinbou The gears I was referring to are cash/kachua items from kRO. These are blank checks that the admins can put whatever they want for crafting mats including for the refine hammers. I propose to increase the zeny fees on those.

@Akin The problem with that is, kachua gears are usually catch up gears, or gears for niche/unpopular builds, rather than endgame gears. So if they’re too expensive than people will simply not bother with them.

For example furious gears were just dead on arrival when they were implemented because they were too expensive (thus their crafting/enchanting costs were reduced later).

Right now the only unimplemented kachua gears are sky rune crowns/weapons, but once again they’re inferior to frontier crowns/zerocell weapons anyway, not to mention they’ll be implemented later than zerocell from what it looks like. So there’s no reason to craft them unless one is playing a niche build that didn’t get any zerocell gear (melee AC is the only one I can think of right now).

So overall I agree that they shouldn’t be too cheap, but making them too expensive won’t accomplish anything in terms of inflation, since these gears will always be unpopular and optional.

With that said, if they ever release kachua sets that are proper endgame gears for most builds, then of course I don’t mind them being expensive

I don’t see upping the vend tax as a good idea, expensive items already mostly trade outside of the market and you’re just making them less visible. Why not put alternative zeny sinks in the game ?

Reducing the price of the nifleheim equipment box can be a solution, to this day IDK why it sells for more than the D2 box or even the Zerocell box.

Another solution would be to nerf the drop rate of BB in niff and add them to other late game tree monsters (D1 wood goblin and D2 ancient tree) and make the drop chance proportional to the difficulty of the map

In the end I’m all for changing things to make niff less the end all be all of the farming spots and allow other maps to be competitive with it.

@telu well as said, maybe some commodities and items should be forced to be traded through vending only for transparency if that’s the concern. We have a very good system now that full transition into vending only economy are possible, at least for commodities (not equipments/mvp cards)

Original author: MadHatter (Flarum #694)

@hoegenaamd So, if I want to let a friend use my mvp card or gear I should pay tax each time, and after pay tax again to return it? Sound as good plan to me(no).

Ugh, sorry, I’m blind, if you exclude equipments/mvp cards from only vend scheme it’s should be fine.

Yeah that just creates more problems than it solves. I’ve played a game where trading between players was limited and it was miserable

@MadHatter the details are to be talked about later yea. I’m not fix on this matter either (y’all don’t have any idea the amount of stuff people borrow from me lmao)

The BB price and MVP ticket price mostly affected by Special instances coin price
If sic was 21m-25m ea
1 coin = 10bb
30 Coin = 1 mvp ticket

back then there you can only trade 1 coin for 6bb and no mvp ticket, only mvp scroll which very expensive

So its contribute for the rising price aswell
