Just want to give my two cents on this, sorry for walls of text.
IMHO Christmas event is one of the more lackluster ones for a variety of reasons, but the biggest of which is that it doesn’t really give much in terms of rewards. It’s great for new costumes, but if you’re a player who doesn’t care about that, I honestly feel like there is little to no incentive at all to even try the event out. Unlike other seasonal events who give a variety of rewards (Muh Coins, Event Coins, Cash Shop items, BSBs, etc) the only ‘resources’ you get to earn/farm in Christmas are Event Coins (which come in abundance with other events anyway) and FP from the event mobs… which is now removed (wasn’t even mentioned in the patch notes). The other rewards are costumes you probably wouldn’t want to recycle, and mostly just little trinkets for the small event quests that, while cute, aren’t nearly as useful as other main rewards from other events. Just a quick glance at the wiki pages can show the difference between the rewards of the events.
The other thing about the Christmas event is Krampus coal collecting, which IMO also feels like a slog compared to other event participation methods. For one, you’re limited to certain low-level maps for the event mobs, so that alone means you probably aren’t getting a lot of good side loot (compare Halloween where mobs are almost everywhere so you can event farm while doing your normal farm, and even Halloween event mobs gave good/useful things). Second, getting coal is still luck based. You can grind for hours in that low-level maps, but if you’re unlucky your hundreds of presents could still end up resulting in a middling amount of coal, not to mention the cumbersome process of turning in those presents with that cycle of explode>res/kaizel/respawn>walk back to the NPC. Third, it’s not like Krampus rains you with useful things after all those explosions. Sure the entire point of their character is that they’re a bad Christmas character so I’m not expecting anything generous from them but just also shows for all the work and hours they put in especially if they’re trying to rank, present farmers likely don’t actually get too many useful things from their grinds. There is no direct/immediate use of coal outside of ranking purposes; there are better and more easily accessible alternatives to the consumables from Krampus/event mobs; event mob loot can range from gimmicky to just useless; and while the occasional refine-related item is nice, if you wanted to get those you would not be farming Krampus in the first place. Having the costume drop from the Christmas Lunatic was nice because we could get some always appreciated FP while coal/present farming. Why not consider lowering the drop rate?
And on the topic of FP… I’m sorry I don’t mean to be rude but in the part where you say you want to avoid players getting 10k+ FP, you make it sound like it’s… automatically a really bad thing? It’s not like we lack FP sinks—heck the server just added more in the form of Effect Box 14 and recolors of Walking Star, which iirc is one of the more popular and desirable effect stones so I’m not surprised if people just spent a bunch of FP on those. FP costume stones, whether cosmetic or for gameplay, are also gacha with NO pity unlike Ero. Some boxes are also more expensive than the rest, so again if someone is unlucky/stubborn/doesn’t want to buy with zeny, they could easily burn through a huge stock of FP and still not get the stone they want. Let’s not forget that FP is also used for other things like removing enchants and buying other costumes directly. Plus we do have Bio5 and Wave Mode available 24/7, so it’s not like FP is an exclusively time-limited rare resource. Events are nice because they give an alternative to these methods with their own pros and cons.
tl;dr: Even before the removal of farmable FP from Christmas Event, it already didn’t give a lot of useful rewards/resources. IMO it has one of the worst/boring kinds of grinds on top of having very mediocre rewards, so removing FP felt like kicking it while it’s already down. Overall it doesn’t really feel as enjoyable and rewarding as other events. I’m not asking for the event to suddenly be extremely generous, but if permanently removing FP farm from the event is unavoidable then at least consider improving the rewards for those putting a lot of effort into farming presents and blowing themselves up to collect coal (that does not involve the final coal ranking rewards). It would be nice to find a balance so that people won’t feel forced to participate in the event if they are not interested/have no time, but still respect the time of those who put in a lot of hours into it. Thanks for reading.
