One time Dim Glacier enchant reset option

Hi team,

With several classes impacted by the change, is it possible to implement a one time reset option for Graded DIM glacier weapons? It could potentially alleviate the impact of the change. It takes a while to build one. I don’t have an AM but I think they were impacted the most unbeknownst to them that there’s something to be fixed on the skill.

Thank you.

ignorance isnt enough of a reason for this imo, they knew what they were getting into and surely they benefited from it

@3f00 what do you mean by “they knew what they are getting into…”, nobody knows SVS is bugged until today’s patch. its a bug fixed btw not a nerf.

Well, not agreeing with 3f00 baffling statement but is it really necessary?
I mean, sure, SVS has been nerfed (fixed more like) but did it really kill the build?
It does less damage than it used to but surely this is still viable.
No dissing, those are legit questions.

@MadMonkey Appreciate the maintaining decorum in the response.

It could be necessary as the incorrectly calculated damage formula may have been something that people are not aware about when they committed to the build. It just gives that option, they can choose to stick with it - reason that the suggestion is only a one time enchant reset and not something that would stay.

this would be nice! In general I think it should be a feature. To perfect one, it takes a ton of investment either zenywise or time wise. There are only really two enchants that can change build to build for any given class/weapon, the skill enchants which admittedly don’t make as much as a difference for 4th job skills than 3rd job skills however still require big investment to min max.

Hmm idk, dim glacier is already the easiest level 5 weapon to grade A and +12. I dont think this really needed rather as it makes the dim market move again with how some people will try other build or class. People that still like SVS will stick with it as SVS itself still a pretty good farming skill is just not as broken as before the patch

I don’t like the idea of implementing a one time thing just to benefit meta followers.

Dim weapon resetting sounds like an interesting idea at first glance, but then nobody would sell their old weapon when abandoning a build/char since dim is the endgame choice for most builds.

It’s not the benefit of just following the meta but to a certain degree, alleviate the impact that this inaccuracy in the calculation is not known in the first place

@lexvs

If you have a weapon for your build, and suddenly you want to sell it because the build is no longer meta, that’s meta following.

A normal player that plays whatever build they enjoy will not have a need to sell their weapon. It’s not like the build has become unplayable or anything.

AM’s deserve some sympathy here imho.
It’s not “meta-chasing” if you’re bummed about your build suddenly dealing 59% less dmg. Absolute endgame AM’s are probably still relatively okay, but players that were just able to hit necessary dps milestones to farm certain places have taken quite a hit.
There’s a reason many games usually try to bring weak classes up, instead of dragging strong classes down, it just feels better for everyone.

But of course, this is different. It’s not a concious rebalancing, it’s fixing a bug, and I won’t argue that it was necessary.
I also wouldn’t go as far and say that AM players are necessarily entitled to compensation, but I agree that it would be a great sign of good will.
The main issue I see is that it would probably take quite some effort to build a specific reroll system that will be disabled again after some grace period. I don’t know if it’s more feasible for GMs to update it in the database just once for people that sign up for it via ticket or similar, but I could imagine that it’s still a bit bothersome to deal with from their side.

@Misao The reason is because it’s a weapon with a lot of investment, Suddenly the skill doesn’t function the same way as when we chose the skill to enchant onto the weapon. Objectively If everyone who played AM wanted to be meta they wouldn’t have been playing AM, they would be playing Windhawk, DK, etc. And while the build is still technically viable, it’s significantly punishing to people who were still gearing AMs. Imagine the people who suddenly cannot farm CTB, Nif2, or Varmundt Biosphere because this change essentially gutted their damage. I remember the type of gear I required to be able to farm Nif2, it wasn’t low investment at all and now SVS players need MORE investment in order to farm the same places. It essentially changes the DPS to gear milestones that are important for progression.

It sets up bad precedent, what if in the future there’s another 4th skill that got nerfed? People be asking another reroll? If this accepted then that one should also be accepted. Or do u guys gonna argue it is a case by case basis and if its not “meta” u shouldnt be allowed to ask for it?
It open a can of worms in the future if this kind of thing got accepted.

Since this was due to a bug, I do think that having a reset for the skill mods is good. We can’t be expected to bear the weight of a mistake.

Well

@[deleted] Well in this case this is not a “nerf” but a “fix”. A future rebalance done by KRO and then Muhro would fall under different buckets.

@lexvs what if there’s another skill that is actually bugged but we dont know rn and then get fixed? Another reset?
This is a private server trying to emulate an official server, people should expect there will be a bug here and there. There’s much more thing to prioritize than trying to make this “reroll” a thing. It takes resource and time to do this and set a bad precedent.

@[deleted] If another class is this severely affected by a future bugfix? Yes, ideally it would get a similar treatment. It’s not like a change like this happens very often (did it ever?).

I see it similar to manually resetting instance cooldown for individual players that ask for it when the server crashes. Except that skipping a day for an instance seems a lot less severe than having to re-farm a +12 grade A dim glacier weapon.

I do want to stress that I would not make that argument with official rebalances that may come in the future, as people can read up about them long before it hits pservers and can plan accordingly.

@cruro Is just the definition of “severe” is too broad and doing it everytime future bugfix hampers thing the server could progress (custom content, more important bugfix, new episode etc).

It’s not like the +12 grade A svs weapon became a dead weight, they can sell it if they dont want to play SVS anymore and buy/make another dim instead.

This doesnt make them lose all their progression (like instance) this just make the svs player need to invest more to be able to kill things they could previously kill with minimal gear compared to other class.

I agree on this one. Just to be clear its a bug not a nerf…

@[deleted] they can sell it if they dont want to play SVS anymore and buy/make another dim instead.

but imagine this one. All the time and effort wasted. It is not like we are all aware that SVS is bugged.

Why not have reset available for the skill enchants for everyone always? So players can play more builds for fun. It would be fun! Why be against a temporary one time reset when we could just have resets for every dim weapon all the time? Imagine changing skill enchants on dim weapons like Taking cards off equips at low cost. WHY NOT, IT WOULD BE MORE FUN! Oh the dim weapon market will crumble in Flames! lmao HOW would it matter at all. Players still want dim weapons and want one pretty much for every class they play. I don’t think it would affect anything except the level of fun of dim weapons.
