How about Gramps parties?

I slightly miss this. It was always fun to get random parties to join your leveling group, and hear their complaints, and have people get lost on a map with such small scale it’s near impossible, and just the chaos of having to form a party and keep those at least necessary, until everyone has finished their kill count.

I’m not asking for a level 100-260, but something along the lines of, 180+ to 260. Some of our new players, and old who are just looking to have fun while leveling, might find benefit in this. We’re always wanting to party together, and reaching that max level has slightly become a necessity for improvement.

Yes, I know we have all kinds of board quests already, but nothing that takes like 400x400 mobs to kill, which would consume more time, but with some FUN. Beyond level 230 has slightly become a chore, and creates this repetitive -go farm x map-, and it usually ends up being the same old boring thing. I guess I just wanted to add some spice to it.

In Nova (yes, I know we’re not Nova, and thank you for that  ) We had a few maps which would rotate mobs to keep things fresh. Sometimes, you hated the mobs, sometimes, you loved the chance to farm them, but in the end, It was a good feeling reaching max level, and the farming some useful items along the way.

I’m not saying the leveling experience is bad, but we are kinda missing that party invitation, where older players can even HELP newer players through a gramps map, just for the fun of it. I used to do that quite often, and this could get the community more active in terms of “helping” with something other than great advice.

I’m unsure about the rewards, but since this will mostly benefit newer players, why not just make the reward eden coins? Always helpful to someone new.

Anything is welcome, and thank you for reading.

Well, either your memories are tinted by nostalgia or your experience has been incredibly different than mine.
Personally I can’t say I remember my Nova days with a lot of fondness.
Granted, I didn’t stay for long.
But my early exit was motivated by the numerous problems and others (seemingly purposefully) questionable designs I quickly became aware of on the server.

Now, I’m all for teamplay and party content.
But if Nova’s the blueprint, man I’ll not be waiting with baited breath.
Nova’s Gramps only ever was as good as its community.
And its community was utter shit.

Peeps playing their classes as chaotically/nonsensically as humanely possible, creating unnecessary havoc for the group to have to manage or just doing their 400 counts and dipping out, leaving everyone else hanging.
Those were things I frequently had to deal with.
Way too frequently.
This ain’t no teamplay.
Merely people playing solo in groups.

So it’s a no as far as I’m concerned.
Nothing against Gramps in particular but I have enough PTSD of this shit as it is.

No. Gramps concept was like a training wheel, a lot of times (me included) you’d get your character to a high level but find yourself unable to gear because you ignore the gearing part most of the time. With that being said, said problems didn’t really exist on Muh, leveling to 200+ is relatively easy even without a server feature to force people to party and kill hundreds on mobs in a designated map(s), people mostly just made a leveling party anyway, it even took less than 1 hour if you (or the person carrying the whole party) can one-shot illusion dungeons.

@zarkhaev If it’s easy, then why no? if there are other methods, then why no? This is just a choice people can make, not a mandatory “HAVE TO LEVEL THIS WAY OR CAN’T LEVEL AT ALL”.

Also, Nova had a super terrible gearing scene, and there was nothing really solid for a very long time, in terms of owning a “set” of gear. Grace set come far too late, so you probably didn’t even experience that at all. This is a much different server, and if you’ve been paying attention, a lot of NEW players are saying “okay, so, I reached 180+ where do I level?” While, yes the answer is obvious, buuuuuuuuut, there could be a brand NEW answer, like “Oh hey, I have some time, let me help you in your GRAMPS PARTY THERE YOUNG FELLAH” instead of -Oh, just go whatever illusion whatever, who cares, make sure you got eden whatever, I’m afk bye-

See the difference?

@MadMonkey LOL, I understand, and yes, I experienced everything you mentioned, but it was FUN in the essence that you knew everyone was crazy and going to do something irrational, or spontaneously leave.

I’ve been to some parties here, and people seem to care, so I doubt we would have those types of issues often, and even if we do, the vast majority won’t be acting like that. This isn’t Nova, and that’s something that needs to be considered when you’re looking back on gramps

@EvilLumi Fair enough.
My take on Gramps is pretty much heavily skewed by how I experienced it on Nova.
Could be that it’ll be different here.
Imma still be looking at it sideways tho.

I’m pretty neutral about this, but it could be okay for new players. However, I’ll propose some of the old limitations because they were good in the sense that people wouldn’t abuse gramps just for farming crap - you won’t get any loot unless you have the killing quest active, and boss protocol mobs have their card/rare drops disabled. Seeing as this is means to help with leveling, those shouldn’t pose an issue.

We’ve declined this a few times already in the past. We don’t see the “issue” gramps would solve or the value it would add. I think our rates are too high and leveling with just the smaller board quests is already fast enough.
