Hotfix #72 ~ 13 July 2026

Reverted all Class Palettes back to before last patch - 1323 for each class.

  • Floating sprites should stay fixed
  • All classes still would use their own palettes instead of shared (though it might not matter)
  • If you find some pitch black class, please report it.
  • Original palettes or kamishi palettes again unavailable.

What happened?

When we first implemented palettes we used the original palettes and Kamishi’s palettes for the classes they had created. This amounted to around 700 palettes in total. The remaining classes were improvised.

Later we switched to approximately 1300 palettes with custom sprites adjusted to fit them. Unfortunately these palettes offered limited variety for certain classes and introduced some floating class sprites. They also came from a stale package that was never updated.

The class sprites have always been the main source of incompatibilities between the different palette sets.

After the release of the Druid class I started working on a palette generator. No public palettes were available for that class. The goal was to move palette maintenance and expansion into my own tool.

The initial Druid set worked reasonably well but it was not ready for the other classes so I set the project aside.

Over the past few weeks I became frustrated with the broken sprites and started expanding the tool. I hoped to address all the issues while also providing a broad variety of clothing colors including official and Kamishi palettes.

Unfortunately I did not check every class as thoroughly as I should have and the result was ultimately unfinished.

For a future update I will take a different approach. I may bring the palettes back once I can confidently provide all palette sets in a proper and consistent way.

This includes the original palettes the Kamishi palettes the current palettes and custom palettes.

Sorry for the inconvenience. Here’s hoping for a colorful future!

Thank you for sharing this update. I appreciate the clarity and transparency provided in the announcement.

At least players like us can understand the hard work behind all that, i’m not a 20 y/o RO veteran.

I completely agree with the previous sentiments. It’s always quite interesting to see what it actually means for some feature or QoL to be implemented, and to which lengths you are going.. thanks for the work
