Title: [Extend Happy Hour Duration]

Description:
Good ones are rare, yet when it happens it ends before it’s even begin. Or so I thought that it could be extended for the benefit of all.

I’d propose happy hour to be longer (from 3h to 6h people can talk about the specifics later), while the rate of it being picked up and announced still remains the same (5 maps per hour), so there will be overlaps (3 sets if 3h, 6 sets if 6h etc).

Why is this a good idea?
Health benefits:

Reducing congestion: unlikely for someone to farm the entire duration if it is long though not possible so it’s like we could take turns. Maybe. At least on paper

Reducing rush stress: people know they don’t have to eject from their current already opened instance just to hop in for like a sub 1h unhappy farming session (of which already producing enough tension as someone complained openly on #global the other day that they couldn’t get into the map farm party). Also related to disabling @noks on the map for the duration.

Reducing farming tension: it’s only becoming overly competitive because it’s so short (1h or even less in terms of effective time) and everyone is like of fervor because the next good map happy hour is maybe a week away. If we let people farm to their content (3h-6h or even a day long like 24h happy hour as a maximalist solution), I think people would stop being crazy about it and would start to get back into their “in moderation” mode that is being decent and normal as human being.

Fairness: longer duration means everyone in the all parts of the world would have more chances to dip into the happy hour good map, even if only a tiny bits.

risks or downsides does it have?

More production of happy hour map stuff: more items => less price. Also will affect cash shop items that are dropped on the map.

For this issue I’d actually like to proposea balance (but is a separate item open to discussion): now happy hour map doesn’t increase drop rate of items naturally drops in the map anymore, it only have chances for cash shop items to drop. But all in all I believe a buff (that is increasing HH duration in this case) should be balanced by a nerf (in this case decreasing its potency).

Additional Info:
Could compare it to current and past iterations of happy hours droprate increase & cash item drops but i don’t have the data.

Sorry, but I don’t think this is a good idea.
Plan your time so you’re not in the instance when happy hour starts. The three-hour break between happy hours is more than enough time to prepare for the next one. Take a short break beforehand or just wait for the locations to be announced. Then decide where to go.
Increasing happy hour will not make people calmer and less crazy (based on extensive experience working with people). This depends entirely on the individual, and increasing the time won’t solve it.

@iKat you won’t know in advance what map will be the happy hour map

@hoegenaamd I don’t really understand how this contradicts what I wrote. :sweat_smile:

If it lasts the whole day then it’s not really a happy hour anymore, is it?

Also how would disabling noks be of any help? It’ll just make American farming (tp skill tp skill) even more powerful and toxic, rewarding ranged classes even more.

There are things that could be done about the map selection, like increase the number of map for each HH, or have it be more specific (1 map for early/mid/late/end game + 1/2 random maps for example), but just making everything happy hour all the time isn’t the way to go.

@telu this probably would be the better solution
