Adjusting Skills / Status on Neustadt

With recent updates Leap Skills is disabled on Neustadt, because i believe the reason, was that class have advantage for it.
Why not for the sake of fairness to all class, why dont we also disabled all pasive / active skill that might affect the event on Neustadt ?
Such as double attack - on thief , Snap - Sura (idk if its disabled alrd or not) etc .
Rather than looking for the skill 1 on 1 , would rather just disabled everything, like we are on “Escape Orc Event”, where we have all skill / equip disabled, and we given fixed stats.

For the given Status, u can give everyone 193 ASPD for the Fairness to hit the cowring, so everyone can bring their FAVOURITE CHARACTER to the Neustadt for the event (mostly cowring killing).

if you think there is negative impact on this suggestion, let me know what, so we can tune the suggestion more.
thanks

Displacement skills such as body relocation/snap, backslide etc. are disabled already. Leap is most likely missed from the list that should have been disabled.

Ideally yes, everyone should starts off with standardized stats so no one has an advantage over the other. But that may require being in a specialized map such as current GM portal events where it adjusts the stats of the participants. Maybe Muh can clarify.

On the topic of skill adjustments in event map, and from what I have observed: homunculus can take aggro from cowrings. Meaning, my character can hit a cowring, and my homunculus can “switch” aggro and tank for me while I go hit other cowrings.

The homunculus does not damage the cowring but it “holds” the mob.

@aewuu i mean yeah, bassicly have everyone om the same ground / level regardless of their jobs. Isnt thats the point of “event”..

Coz like thief or class who has high aspd as its base, have definitely their advantage.

@SpaceHelm Well, this kind of removes the point of gearing for an event. I personally spent a lot of time getting my aspd to 193 without buffs, and it was worth it. Granted, it’s just for ONE type of event. (because it’s useless for boss events) It’s still something to work towards.

I think this kinda helps the economy, or for people to sell oddity gears you would normally never find on sale. Keeps an idea alive. If it’s removed, that’s just one LESS thing we have.

I understand you want everyone on an even ground, but I found it rather fun scraping around for aspd and bolts. It brought me out of boredom, and put me into a class of event competitors. It feels actually pretty nice, and very involved, so I really think this should stay as it is, because it shows the creativity of what people CHOOSE to play. You would be surprised how many classes took part in the spring event, because it’s what they like, and no meta will change that.

I’d rather see things like backstep, snap, double attack, etc enabled since it makes events a lot more interesting when some classes have certain advantages.

When everyone’s on the exact same playing field and nobody’s unique, it gets boring.

@CongaLyne

I feel this way. I optimized my characters for X and Y and now that everything feels the same and bland I just don’t attend.

The spring event especially was very fun for me because it allowed for some interesting theory crafting.

@EvilLumi Well, this kind of removes the point of gearing for an event.

my point is, its event, not pvp… and u dont have to be geared to have even ground for having same chance of winning. Like its not the purpose of having an event, where people needs to be invest their money towards participating in an event.

@CongaLyne I’d rather see things like backstep, snap, double attack, etc enabled since it makes events a lot more interesting when some classes have certain advantages.

Then if u say so, why do u think Muh disabled snap / leap, and then gives everyone same movespeed (yes gene is the king there without mspeed)? the point is to not giving advantage toward certain class, so everyone can enjoy it with their own pretty character.

@CongaLyne etc enabled since it makes events a lot more interesting when some classes have certain advantages.

then dont partially enabled / disabled stuff.. enable all, and let it be “Free For All”, then let’s see how it’s gonna be with every “unique class” that u will encounter..
u will see mostly 1 or 2 class only to gain high advantage on the cowring event.

@SpaceHelm But most of our events are competitive. Things like cowrings, treasure hunt, they were all created with a leaderboard in mind. Some of us care, some of us don’t, but it’s there so people CAN be competitive. If everyone was on equal footing, it wouldn’t really make much impact, and if you ever fell behind, you would stay behind because of someone’s personal commitment over yours. It’s more free this way, and allows people to really WANT TO become the best at events.

You’re meant to push the limits of a class and test wonky things. Otherwise, it’s just boring events that you can bring a novice to. It wouldn’t be as enticing to participate.

@SpaceHelm It’s a lot more fun seeing people go out of their way to min/max on a certain class than seeing everyone share same identical move kit, I can see some kind of culture forming when thieves, archers or something else is the best choice for a given event and people designing around that in mind.

With everyone on the same playing fields it just feels boring and predictable, I can’t see “woaaahhh Shadow Cross is crazy good at this event”, instead I just see everyone being clones of each other with special cosmetics attached.
Fairness is boring.

@CongaLyne

@EvilLumi then if u think so, do u both aggree to enable all of the skills in there? Snap / leap / etc? Just because why not then? Since u guys both think u want the uniqueness.

I just dont like where it’s like half-hearted getting balamced there… since its no point of doing half balancing to achieved fairness. Either give all or take all…

@SpaceHelm I do agree that it’s not -fair- that new players have to compete with established players, that goes for every aspect of this game. Fortunately, some of these events are specifically tailored for new players and the old ones at the same time, some are not. I would never say to enable movement skills in these types of events because it would just become Surawars. In this state, we at least have people trying new things, and it’s never just the assassins running around. This is why I disagree with your post, because if we actually did have a problem, you wouldn’t see any other classes out there during events, but you do, and they’re quite happy with their setup.

Even if this does get changed, it doesn’t bother me much, but you would be taking an aspect of the game away from people who actually enjoy it. Usually, all we have is PVM, PVP, and WOE. Now? We have EVP (Event vs players) and a reason to gear, to max out, to feel like you’re the best you can be in a competitive scene, which is what most of these events is.

I do understand your point. Why movement skills? in all honesty, I’m not sure, but if you were here and would see what was happening, I’m sure you’d vote to remove those skills immediately. This way, at least we’re all static and have to make hasteful and tactical decisions, or hope our fly wings take us where we need to go on the map.

To add another point, if we remove dual wielding, then I’d propose to remove range characters next, because it’s unfair that mages and ranged characters have an advantage over melee. The list would never stop until there’s one class available in events.

Do you really think, that event such as Cowring / Treasure / Cluck isnt meant for both NEW and OLD player ??? its just killing poring with 3 hp?! what aspect you should be old player to get advantage ?

@EvilLumi I would never say to enable movement skills in these types of events because it would just become Surawars.

&

@EvilLumi you wouldn’t see any other classes out there during events, but you do, and they’re quite happy with their setup.

you know both of these question is also contradictive with each other? since even when leap is enabled, u can see not everyone is using “Soul Ascetic” .. so its like , even with the current situation, people will still gonna use what class they want to use. so it doesnt matter how well they do, people not gonna bother to change char, just to participate on 2 minutes event. unless its their “afk” / main char.
So my point is, might as well give everyones the same shit, u will still see people using other class anw. but now, its depend on your luck or how fast u click the cowring,

@EvilLumi Even if this does get changed, it doesn’t bother me much, but you would be taking an aspect of the game away from people who actually enjoy it. Usually, all we have is PVM, PVP, and WOE. Now? We have EVP (Event vs players) and a reason to gear, to max out, to feel like you’re the best you can be in a competitive scene, which is what most of these events is.

im not taking any aspect of the games, the GM does. so thats why, if they gonna take, atleast take all, not partially enabled / disabled stuff. because it’s pointless.. my point is, either make it none disable or all disabled.
and for sure, its just Event, not everyone like / obligated to participating in an event. Event meant to be a additional place for people to take a break and have a little fun. But when u suddenly makes it that scheduled event is a place to “FARM” then its out of my question.

I just dont feel its right that i am “obligated” to use certain class to efficiently participating in only “Scheduled Event” to have an advantage that i couldnt get with other class.

@EvilLumi To add another point, if we remove dual wielding, then I’d propose to remove range characters next, because it’s unfair that mages and ranged characters have an advantage over melee. The list would never stop until there’s one class available in events.

Range / Melee / Magic have no difference already, they still hit with their melee range.. u see how the GM already try to give everyone fair standing. as u can see ,

  • bow still hit like melee
  • magic / phys skill wont affect the cowring hp

so why bother doing all of the current disabled, if not for Fair Ground

There will be events where we will invite players to experiment with their builds, because there might be some extra reward for the best and there will be events where we want everyone to be on par without advantages.

The issue here is that we used the same map in past for both kinds of events and therefore the limitations are in a inconsistent state. We will clean this up though.

@SpaceHelm Still disagree because you have no idea what our events consist of. Cowrings is 15 seconds of joy, while the real events REQUIRE builds to be present. Treasure and cowrings, with skills enabled, would be tragic, and I see no harm in allowing people to have high attack speeds to kill 5 more cowrings that teleport away anyway. It’s 10-15 more muh coins for your effort. This is not a discussion to deeply look into, as it barely effects someone new. I have a friend who uses a soul linker to do this, and as much as he dislikes seeing a disadvantage, he still chooses to be a linker during cowrings/treasure. It’s not that serious. Really.

I can just imagine certain events being an absolute nightmare (winter invasion), if all skills are “turned off” just so everyone are on equal footing altogether. I personally loved playing my cursed circle sura, as it felt pseudo pvp-like.

Spring invasion on steroids was probably the most fun in my opinion (still sad it was nerfed). I cannot imagine attempting that on restricted X and Y.

I agree that events should feel like an “additional place for people to take a break and have a little fun” but as with everything, and especially when there are rewards. You will get competitive people, and it becomes a question of “how much do you want it”.
