Implement a Perfect Upgrade option for the 3rd enchant of Temporal Circlet, allowing players to safely upgrade the 3rd enchant up to Level 8, similar to the existing Perfect Upgrade systems available for Frontier and Dimension equipment.
The idea is to make Temporal Circlet follow the same upgrade philosophy as these other pieces of equipment, where players have a more reliable way to progress their enchant instead of being entirely dependent on RNG.
Why is this a good idea?
Temporal Circlet is usually one of the first important pieces of equipment that new players acquire. Adding a Perfect Upgrade system would give new players a more reliable progression path as they move from the early / midgame into the endgame.
Because of the high RNG involved, most players generally don’t bother upgrading the 3rd enchant beyond Level 5 during this stage of progression. The risk and cost of repeatedly attempting higher levels can be too high for a new or progressing player, causing the Temporal Circlet to remain at Level 5 for a large portion of their progression. A Perfect Upgrade system would give players a more realistic and consistent way to eventually reach Level 8 without relying entirely on luck.
What risks or downsides does it have?
Personally, I don’t think there are many significant downsides to implementing this. Temporal Circlet is not an especially powerful endgame item, so allowing players to guarantee the 3rd enchant up to Level 8 would have a relatively limited impact on overall endgame balance.
However, one potential concern is that, a perfectly upgraded Temporal Circlet could become Best-in-Slot (BiS) for certain classes during the early / mid game. This could potentially make some other headgear options feel less relevant or even trivial for those classes, reducing equipment diversity.
Additional Info: I saw someone mention this in another post, and since I had a similar thought myself, I decided to make a separate post.
For context, have spend 1000s of Temporal Spells trying for a level 8 Temporal Circlet(and Bio5 headgear), it does feel bad that, if the change is implemented I would have wasted a lot of mats.
I would support the change depending on the cost, of the upgrades.
If the proposal was a linear increase to the existing I would not be supportive of the change. The zeny cost seems to follow a pattern of 2x the difference between the last guaranteed and would look as follows:
26m + 60 Temporal Spell
50m + 70 Temporal Spell
98m + 80 Temporal Spell
If the cost was just multiplied based on current odds of level 5, with the purpose to just eliminate rng. I believe the cost would be excessive, and would be pointless to implement. The said costs would be as follows:
70m + 250 Temporal
350m + 1250 Temporal Spell
1.75b + 6250 Temporal Spell
If you were to target the cost of perfect upgrade to be in line with the previous sold prices, I would be supportive of the change. It would also serve as a zeny sink for people who want to min/max their supports gears, while not forcing people to roll the gear for hours. It would also make it a bit more fair to people who have already spent the time/effort to make the gear.
Below is what I feel is would be a reasonable cost (with Temporal spell taken out as those are a relatively insignificant element of the proposed cost).
50m + x Temporal Spell
200m + x Temporal Spell
500m + x Temporal Spell
The above proposed implementation was calculated based on:
Level 6 Temporal Circlets trading for 50-70m range
Level 7 Temporal Circlets trading in the 200m-250m range
a +14 bio5 level 8 head gear selling for 1.6b (800m-1b if you take out cost of +14 cert)
The amount of zeny/Temporal Spell or even Grudge Fragments in case of bio5 are all possible levers than can be adjusted before implemented.
I don’t think it’s a bad suggestion but I also think it’s misleading to say it’s a change that’s aiming to make life easier for new players. Nobody has the resources to safe enchant even up to lvl 5 when they start, and it could be a trap for new players to invest several hundred of millions to enchant a temporal circlet to lvl 8.
No, this change is for established players who want to make an alt or some gear for their support character.
