Description:
I would like to suggest to add bonus EXP boost day(s) during global holidays that the world celebrates in unison or by billions. I made this suggestion for people like me that are too busy during weekdays (and sometimes even during weekends) to play or level up, and when we got time to play like on holidays, the EXP Boost Event may or may not be active.
The following holidays that most countries celebrates in unison or by billions, I would like to suggest are:
New Year's
Lunar New Year
Easter
Eids
Worker's / Labor
Thanksgiving
Christmas
and other days that i missed worth adding to the list
Why is this a good idea?
Just like how we treat these days as bonus to take a time-off from our busy days, this can also be a treat for most of us to have bonus EXP Boost Event Day(s) to catch up on the grind.
What risks or downsides does it have?
This could pause/disrupt the ongoing Exp Boost Event collection and how to continue back from where it left off collecting EXP Boost Event.
I like this idea and would like to build up upon it. It would be nice to run stuff with fellow casual players, and help them catch up. I also want to point out why some holidays may not work as well as others.
Bad news first. Holidays based on calendars that observe moon phases, including Lunar New Year, Eid al Adha, and Eid al Fitr, may be somewhat difficult to implement at the same time every year. Eid in particular adds another layer of complexity, since each observing country may determine them to occur at slightly different days, due to local differences in when the next crescent moon that marks the beginning of the new month becomes visible in said country.
Additionally if the bonus EXP Event day happened to fall in the middle of an already active EXP Event week, it may be simpler to just combine it and not roll it over to the next weekend .
With the bad news out of the way, I’d like to table some bonus EXP Event days:
January: First Sunday of January.
February: Valentine’s or the second Sunday of February.
March: St. Patrick’s Day, or the second Sunday of March. Alternatively, Spring Solstice, second to last or last Sunday of March.
April: Arbor Day, or the last Sunday of April.
May: International Labor Day, or first Sunday of May.
June: Pride Month, first or second Sunday of June. Alternatively Summer Solstice, second to last or last Sunday of June.
July: Start of summer, first or second Sunday of July (may coincide with Independence day in US, Canada Day, etc)
August: Couldn’t really find any international holidays, so first or second Sunday of August.
September: Labor Day in the US, first or second Sunday of September. Alternatively Fall Equinox, second to last or last Sunday of September.
October: Halloween is quite commonly celebrated, so last Sunday of October.
November: Thanksgiving, so last Sunday of November. Alternatively, All Saints’ Day, first Sunday of November.
December: Winter Equinox/Christmas, so second to last or last Sunday of December.
Keeping it to Sundays (or alternatively Saturdays) should accommodate typical school/work schedules where one's commitments last Monday to Friday.
Saturday looks like a better choice because it catered towards all timezone.
Hear me out :
Saturday night SEA/APAC prime time is as good as Saturday afternoon EU time which is also NA morning time.
If Sunday is was chosen as the Holiday EXP event, that would lead to some people missing out as Sunday is likely family day for most common timing, alongside preparing for tomorrows ( Monday work ).
Another thing i want to point out is, it might be hard to code the usual EXP event to paused when Holiday EXP event kicks in, so i believe if this got implemented, we're somewhat expecting EXP event buffs where Holiday EXP + EXP Event + HE BM + Kim is going to push up some huge numbers.
