I agree with @teppei 100%. The fact that Nif2 is such a good farm and requires low investment is a GOOD thing for the server, if you want a good influx of new players.
I honestly would have quit otherwise, as progression here is so steep.
Making a single HoL garment takes BILLIONS of zeny.
Bosses that are made to be killed by meta classes and have 99% damage reduction, even chapter1 stuff is insanely hard for anyone who is not SA to farm.
I literally had to quit playing my Biolo because itâs so bad to do anything.
I donât know a single person who can farm ZeroCell as a physical class, on a decent pace, without having Sarah Card. I know plenty of SAâs/EM who can farm it without Sarah, super fast. Do you know how insane it is to require MVP cards to farm certain contents?
Even Encroached Geffenia is almost not viable due to RO dumb balancing, insane high flee and parry, when magic can just bypass all that.
âfarm grey wolf>glacier>varmundt gear to get stronger, farm clock tower, etc⌠farm grey wolf>glacier>varmundt gear to get stronger, farm clock tower, etcâŚâ is the most braindead take. Yeah, letâs make newer players take 2 years to catch up to current content, oh wait, they are just going to quit because itâs a private RO server. Itâs different if you had to do that because it was current content, it is insane to ask it from new players the same thing when itâs irrelevant content.
If the problem is the variety, I am up to add more options as viable as Nif2, but like it was said, it is impossible to balance 100% and something/somewhere will always be better. ALWAYS. In ALL aspects of the game, in ALL games, when it comes to balancing.
If the problem is overpopulation in nif2, and iRO has channels, I am also up to add that function here, it would be amazing.
Itâs very sad to think like that imo. âPlayers shouldnât have to do gear progression, otherwise theyâll get bored and leave, itâs better for them to farm the same map foreverâ.
Mid game content isnât âirreleventâ just because you want to skip it. You donât want to interact with it and prefer to chain farm? Suit yourself, but donât assume everyone wants the same thing as you. Open #global and youâll see lots of people on the server like to play slow and farm their gear themselves instead of farming money and buying everything. Some even start with x1 to take it extra slow.
Obviously the best scenario is the one where players have freedom of choice in how they want to progress, no? So stop considering Niff2 as the only available option for everyone.
Yeah, there will always be a map thatâs the best. Niff2 has been the best for a while now, so how about some change? If youâve been perma farming the map for as long as youâve been there you should be able to switch no?
Exactly, I am doing the entire progression because for me that is the game. Farming for zenny is something I do because I have to, to get zelus and to be able to grade and refine. Not because I want to buy my gear from someone.
The main reason I play in Muh is precisely because the possibility of playing the game like that exists and there is a market, advice and guides around it.
I dont want to spend 100 hours in niff2 to get 5 bill zenny and buy the equipment and thenâŚdo what exactly? Its good that the option exists because people like it that way of course, but some of us want to experience the progression of the game.
Yes its sad but its TRUE. You are right there are those who like to take it slow. But thats not most of them. Be for real. This is a private server. Most people will come in here wants to reach end game bosses and content in the shortest time possible. And the best way to do that is Nif 2. Not farming in Istana or some glacier mats. Then add to that when they realize that even nif 2(the fastest way) STILL takes a lot of time to reach end game. Then you want to nerft that and make the climb even harder for them? Damn. I mean cut the profit nif 2 and you put off these players. And I believe they are a LOT
My only issue is that you want to achieve that by nerfing Niff2 instead of just making another options more attractive. By nerfing the way majority of players already profitted from and making progression slower.
Yeah that is why its good that midgame content exist. For people who want to take it slow. If they want that its their choice. But if they want to reach end game content as fast as possible by grinding nif 2 its also their choice. So that shouldnât be touched as well. Unless you want to the climb even harder and off put off the latter
Well, if u investigate and test maps, there are a lot of options where u can get 80-100m/hour on raw npc sell, or around 130-150m/hour playing with market, the game is too big to just stay on 3 maps, just explore and test stuff.
I put this right back to you If you have a lot of time in your hands happily farming in Istana good for you. But not everyone is like you. Theres a variety of reason why a lot of people wants to reach end game in the fastest way possible. And one of those is adulting life is a busy life unlike when you were a teen ager when you have all the time in the world. Some just want to catch up fast and see what theyâve been missing.
thereâs no point in keeping this convo also this suggestion have come many and they already know what people thinks about this topic so no reason to keep going
cut the profit of niff2 and you give these players an incentive to move on to harder maps. Which is a good thing but you gotta see the bigger picture instead of looking at short term profit.
Yeah but again, the problem is that niff2 is too good. It has a strong direct zeny income thanks to equipment boxes, a strong indirect zeny income thanks to BBs being expensive and easy to sell, and a strong late game attraction because BB spamming is the one true endgame occupation (beside costume optimization of course). How do you make a map more attractive than that? You canât, proof being that people in these threads are proposing to either turn mjol into niff2 or just make another carbon copy of the map. I know itâs a hard pill to swallow but just like stopping woe/bg it will make the server a better place.
Just because lots of people want something doesnât mean it should be given to them. The philosophy of the server isnât âreach endgame as fast as possibleâ, itâs about having a balance between quality of life and still engaging with the content of the game. For example you have to do the episode quests at least once on your account. If you want instant full endgame gear there are servers for that, but I donât think muh is the one.
And again, the point isnât to make farming more miserable for everyone, but to relocate farming to other maps. Yes it takes time to reach endgame gear, personally it took me more than a year, but it doesnât take that much time to outgrow Niff2 and unlock more farming spots. The farming spot progression doesnât have to end in Nifflheim.
I agree. Balance is the word. There comes to a point in the server where you pretty much HAVE to go to niff2 and stay there for HOURS to progress if you want to be efficient.
The hard point is once again balance, how to balance things so that the economy and progression stays.
In my mind and limited experience, there is little reason to farm harder maps except when you need the mats from those harder maps yourself, you always end up coming back to niff2 wether you have 100m max hit or 15b max hit because its just the efficient way to do it, and because of that the map gets super full and its a nightmare to farm. I hate Niff2 farming, it makes me mad, it makes me frustrated, but I HAVE to do it and compete with everyone for a few mobs because there just isnt a comparable place for people who dont have sub 20 ping and absolutely monstrous equipment.
It would be good to at least have channels in Niff2 if âbalancingâ income on other maps is too hard.
But I would consider balancing the progression and income âcurveâ based on map difficulty would be a more elegant and âhealthierâ solution.
