Title: Remove Item Skill Auto-cast Delay/Interruption
Description:
Items that provides skill auto-cast effect has a delay/interruption that impacts the character’s skills.
Example: Dark Lord Card (auto-casts Meteor Storm) and Marin Balloon* (auto-casts Quagmire)
Whenever these item auto-cast skills are triggered, they interrupt the flow of skill rotation of the character.
For example, my Inquisitor is using Body Relocation > Explosion Blaster > Body Relocation > Explosion Blaster skill rotation. If in between the process, the auto-casting skills are triggered, the skill rotation will be broken/interrupted because of the auto-casted skills has taken over. It feels like the character is being choked whenever this happens.
It is good to have the auto-cast triggers as much as possible but the issue with the delay/interruption upon trigger is if the auto-cast skills continuous to be triggered in succession, the skill rotation of the character will be greatly affected.
I previously pointed out that this might not be as noticeable to other job classes since inquisitor leverages body relocation to reposition, thus being choked in the middle of the fight is somewhat frustrating.
However, to update that information, when my sorcerer is doing a skill rotation: Psychic Wave > Diamond Dust > Earth Grave skill rotation and was mobbed by aggressive mobs, auto-casting these item skills prevents my sorcerer to be able to cast the next skill in the rotation. In this scenario, if my survival lies in killing the mobs faster with my skill rotation, whereas the auto-casted skills has lower damage output, then the character ends up choked and dead because the skill rotation is being interrupted continuously.
A good example of non-interrupting auto-cast is, when an Inquisitor equips Faithful Bandage that auto-casts Third Flame Bomb whenever Second Flame is cast, there is no delay/interruption in this auto-cast. In addition, Elemental Buster whenever auto-casted when wearing Elemental Spirits is not posing issue with elemental master’s skill combo/rotation. These are good example of how auto-cast is expected to be - without causing interruption especially that the auto-cast issue here is from equipped items and not from the character’s skill pool which I believe should add value rather than to add friction.
Thanks!
Why is this a good idea?
The effects of the equipped items auto-casting skills should add value than break the character’s skill flow rotation.
What risks or downsides does it have?
In my point-of-view, this should be a default setting since the skills are classified as “auto-cast”. If the skill effect from the equipped items are “active” in nature (e.g. item skills that allows character to use teleport, heal, steal, hiding, detoxify, etc.) the delay is expected. But in this case, I can’t think of a risk/downside.
Additional Info:
*Marin Balloon has an existing inverse trigger bug (bug has been reported)
