Reduce Eden Consumable Costs by 1/3

I believe the intention behind the Eden Coin rebalancing was to make Eden quests balanced with each other, so people weren’t just farming them in one map. I think that’s a great change. However, I think an unintended consequence was that it takes people more time to farm the same amount of consumables now.

If that was an unintended part of the change, I would like to suggest that Eden consumable costs are reduced by 1/3 (e.g. bubblegum 30 → 20, Almighty 3 → 2, etc.) similar to the bio3 eden rewards, since it was the main one that people farmed.
If it was an intended part of the change, then never mind!

@Choi the intention was to stop the “abuse” of one single quest area to farm eden coins. Therefore the quests in question got nerfed slightly while all other quests got buffed.
This is just a few hours after the change and I don’t have any numbers yet, but feel free to post your post-patch experiences about if the other quests should have been buffed more.

alright here are my thoughts on this:

-bio3 was the way to go because it was considerably faster (coins/hr) than any other possible quest.
I don’t see any harm in that because all you got from this is account-bound stuff
Todays patch kinda double nerfed bio3 because a) you need to kill 3x2 mobs per quests now and b) you get less coins/mobs.
a) leads to more time in the dungeons because sometimes you have already 2x2 + x done but have to search for the remaining mobs before you can turn in, while b) leads to less coins overall.

Now I can see the I dea that there’s just one “farming” location (and a very easy one as that) and others get pretty much ignored.
My middle ground would be to scale the eden coin rewards based on level of the quest & monster that need to be killed.(maybe also count in mob density?)
Ex:
lv1-99 Questboards-> 1Coin/quest
lv100-139 Questboards-> 2Coin/quest
lv130-190 Questboard → 1Coin/10Mobs
(maybe factor those by mobs density)

Just a rough idea.

@Muh The intention worked but i think people farming for eden coins will just move on to the 2nd best quest to abuse, it might take time but someone will find the next optimal way and the story will repeat… the main thing about it is to farm eden coins, not how can we do it in different way. I appreciate the fact other quests gives double but i won’t do 50 quests all around the world to farm a single element when i can just content myself of spamming the same quest over and over. Like farming anything else, it’s killing the same mob over and over until you have enough to craft/enchant what you need. That’s pretty much the essence of the game.
I would agree with Choi’s proposition as a new QoL if you think standardization is the way so people can chose if they want to spam the same quest over and over or get their coins by just running the game in their daily quests like endless tower/cellar for exemple it would be easier for everybody to farm it and for some not seeing it as a chore.

@Muh I believe the “abuse” farming in general is related how much “coins/h” ppls can do, and that have many factors, like map acessibility (how fast is to acess the map), alt character (how viable it is to farm with alts), coins per mob, mob density, etc. In comparison, bio3 rn is like 4 coins per 12 kills, while power plant is like 12 coins per 240 kills (similar density and map acess), wich take a considerably higer amount of time compared to bio3 to farm same amount of coins, so overral this update was mostly a pure nerf on eden coin farming, bio3 still seems best place to farm, while other still take a considerable more time and kills to farm same amount of coins.
Its impossible to have a “perfect balance” on farmed coins, there always gonna be a best map, but the atractiveness of other maps and farm conditions could be the diferential, like ppls who prefer farm solo, with alts, on maps with good loot table or main office quests, etc., so for that, have a more even “coins/h” on quests of the same tier (expecially the 130~190 ones) could lead peoples to consider more other maps.
I think for now, have a better approch on “coins per mob” than “coins per quest”, and take in consideration the amount of time it takes to take the quest, complete it and turn in are the most relevant things to consider XD

@Muh I think the real “abuse” with any of these item reward quests is how using alts exponentially increases the farming speed. Someone dual-clienting will farm coins twice as fast, and someone using max alts will collect them tenfold faster.

This isn’t limited to eden quests either, for anything where the quest reward is the main objective, using alts just makes the whole thing too easy. I’d say collecting eden coins was never “too easy” for single clients, even in bio. It was just fine, maybe even a bit too hard considering how many times you have to repeat them for just some consumables. If there was gonna be a rebalancing, I’d prefer it to focus on the multiclienting aspect instead. Although I do appreciate the coin increase for the other maps.

And I’m not even against using alts, I do it too occasionally. I think it’s fine for people who do it to farm faster to some degree. But currently it seems a little too much, each alt you add shouldn’t just double your farm speed.

@jinbou

each alt you add shouldn’t just double your farm speed.

It doesn’t tho, it might actually slow you down depending on how good you are. The amount of time it takes to turn in adds up and can slow down the speed of the farm entirely.

Another approach might be increasing the rewards for everything, reverting the rewards for bio 3 and limit the quests like the main office boards to 15 a day

@Muh please don’t do that. I rather have it as it is right now than limiting the amount/day.
I, for myself, dedicate a set amount of time for eden coin farming where i try to gather the amount of coins i need for the week or, if i’m really motivated, for the month. I wouldn’t like to have to spend multiple days a week to get the coins together. And i also think that would incentivize alt-farming even more.

@Muh

tbh, that would only encourage people to do the quest with an army of alts as the only viable option.

Right now only the hardcores do that, I mysel just farm the amount im gonna use for a couple of days, would definitely not like seeing the map infested with 1 char+ 6 alts following.

Either reduce the price of consumables as choi suggested, restore the old values, leave it like how it is or whatever but dont do that..imagine eden cluttered with a dozen of chars with their 30 alts? absolute mess/chaos.

Thanks.

So far I’d see @“Choco”#391’s idea most promising to get you out of bio 3 without feeling like a waste of time

@jinbou
I don’t agree with you, I don’t think the problem is the use of multi-client.
I used multiclient to farm eden coins in bio3 (I haven’t gone since the patch because I’ve played less since then), I normally did it for 1 full hour, and even if you think it just makes the job easier, that’s not the case. You underestimate the level of effort and concentration it requires to spend 1 hour switching between 3 or 4 accounts to move to the map, deliver/collect missions, take care of the alt accounts so they don’t get killed. It is not that using them gives only benefits and that’s it, it requires considerable effort on the part of the player.

Setting this as implemented, even though it’s not the OP’s suggestions that was implemented :slight_smile:
