Title: [Buffing profitability of D1 and Mjol maps]
Description:
After meta changed from depth armor to HoL and nebula set, D1 farming is not profitable anymore, adding the fact that it was never the prime farming map profitability speaking. People only do it for D2 access and subsequently for TDRC craft + enchanting.
After nif2 weapon box implementation, mjol BB farming has been sort of neglected because of its lesser profitability. I think buffing this mjol map will provide more BB farming maps will help cooling down the currently inflationary economy by allowing more supply of BB to reach the market.
Practically, the implementation might be, but not limited to, and either or all:
- put/more zelu + shadowdecon on D1/mjol maps
- Nerf nif2 naked cash (from npc)
- Adjust the mobs zeny (zeny bounty from each killings) of all these maps
Why is this a good idea?
This D1 map is definitely end game tier on par with D2 (while FT 1&2 and yorscalp sanctuary 2 nightmare mode came close), which is also rare as a field map (in contrast to end game instances which we have plethora of). On the other hand I believe current prime farming spots are limited to: nif2, bio_temple, and bio_venom. Also that Mjol BB farming has been outclassed by nif2 since the weapon box implementation, while it is essentially a harder map. in principle harder farming designated maps should likely to be more profitable than easier ones.
I believe buffing mjol and D1 profitability will provide end game players with alternative farming spots Instead of making them compete with newbies in a crowded map (currently most provitable map is nif2 which is farmable with late- middle game gears). Also that I believe making middle game progression map the most profitable map is not a good game design. Something has to change.
The alternative is to nerf nif2 profitability (naked cash speaking) because I suspected(no proof tho) the npc zeny (naked cash) from the farming is flooding the economy too much.
What risks or downsides does it have?
Nif2 farmer will riot idk

While its true that D1 has fallen behind in terms of profitability, I’ve never seen it as a profitable map even before the HoL meta shift, nevertheless i would love to see some improvement or other appeal than just helping newcomers to rep grind it or level up faster.
Regarding Nif2 being considered the best farming spot, i dont entirely agree, Its definitely the easiest and most accessible option for raw zeny, but there are several other spots where you can farm significantly more zeny if you’re properly geared & open to sell the drops.
As for Mjol, I believe its currently underrated by players, considering the drop gear we have now (+42/44 %) and the gear requirements to farm it many overlook it and just go straight to Nif2 without trying it. I personally farm there regularly and in 30 minute sessions (with normal bbg) you can get around 60 to 70 Bloody Branches, nearly 300 zeluniums, and roughly 16/18 million zeny (raw). In my opinion, this map is in a good state as it is, even after the bloody branch drop rate nerf that happened a year ago.
My currently field farming spots: z1/z2, yor2, mjo, venom, temple, soul & d2

+1 from me.
And I want Forgotten Dungeons get buff too
for example: adding more daily rewards

@Mysto
I don’t know how you farm 70 BB/30 min with normal bbg and how you define your average yield. My average is 40-60 BB/30 minutes with HE bubblegum of which is closer with what yield average people reports when farming there.
But even if what you’re saying is true, the mjol map is not full with farmers (while at the same time nif2 is fully congested), of which that fact alone should tell us something.

@danieltran88 I agree and id double down even: imo forgotten dungeons should be buffed both its yield (zeny per hour) and its difficulty (like maybe the mobs will cast some spells or something making it more challenging as a farming map)

Yeah this would be great, The yields I get in nif2 is way more compared to BioB even if it is crowded. I feel bad for newbies farming there when I go back to farm there and also see SA eating everything up. Buffing up CTB and Power Plains would be great too to spread them out.

For D1, imo no need to make it a prime farming spot since it has outlived its usefulness after the D1 armor set becomes outclassed. As more dungeons will be added replacing the current ones once newer content arrives, this is just the natural cycle of farming spots. Some like D2 just last longer cause of.. Gravity. With exception of nif2 and bioB due to BB/zelu/shadow perpetually be in demand.
For Mjol, why not just increase the BB yield with something like adding a 2nd or even a 3rd BB drop with increasingly lower chances.
P.S. Please add the 3 new dungeons

@hoegenaamd
Well just the median out of all my attempts, i keep track of them even got a video requested from a player and i got 57 witn normal bbg, even if thats lower than average still more than enough to be a worth farm.
The answer to that is that nif2 its super easy to grind and all people knows it and suggest newbies to farm it, while Mjo needs unbreakeable armor at minimun and been able to resist/tank fire, and BBs drop chance were nerfed before because it was too good so they decided to move to Mjo and afterwards it required a nerf on the drop chance due to inflation “https://forum.muhro.eu/d/1477-bloody-branch-drop-from-timbers-to-make-the-underground-cave-populated”

@Mysto
@Mysto 60 to 70 Bloody Branches, nearly 300 zeluniums, and roughly 16/18 million zeny (raw)
Impressive if true, but chances are, you’ll earn significantly more farming in Nif2 as compared to Mjo as long as it’s not overcrowded.
@Mysto BBs drop chance were nerfed
Yes, Nif2 BB drop rate was slightly reduced back in Janurary (Link), but then equipment box were introduced in March (Link) which significantly boosts Nif2 farming profit/efficiency, which is why I also think another rebalance of Nif2/Mjo should be considered.
As for the suggestion of buffing other endgame farming maps, personally I don’t see much of a point if farming in Nif2 stays as lucrative as it currently is.

I think the 2 points of this discussion aren’t correlated and should be treated differently :
On one hand D1 being a low value spot because it’s just for farming depth armor mats and shadow stones, and depth armors are just as hard to craft as nebula without the acc/garment combo, on the other hand Niff2 being overcrowded/overeffective as a farming spot.
For the first problem, it doesn’t have to be solved but there could be multiple solutions : add a way to transform depth mats into something else that has market value. Another idea could be to add a box/hammer for depth armors that would make them easier to 12A and thus a cheaper alternative to nebula for new players or alts. Those are just off the top of my head, just to prove that it doesn’t have to be “add zelu/sdc to the loot table”.
Now about Niff2, I think it’s a fake problem because there will always be a map in the game that has the highest reward/effort ratio, nerf niff and people will flood rudus, niff1, CTUB or w/e. It’s not just about money but also about friction and how much more effort you have to put out for the extra reward. It was happening 20 years ago in comodo beach and pryd b2 and it will still be happening 20 years from now.

@Mysto It still depends on the class Mysto. We all know that the best field farmer right now is SA.

@telu
I share the same view.
Personally, I think what we should achive is not more map to farm zeny. But more map to be useful in term of gameplay and progress.
I advice people skip all the mid game gear and go straight to the end game because the grind for midgame is not worth it. With the current state, you end up farming efficeincy for zeny and buy endgame gear (locked by content you cant access) and its not healthy at all.
So if the mid game eq is easier to get. There might open a way for player to progress without farming for zeny right away after the novice manual run out.
(Also I believe costume crafting, equipment crafting will also crucial to the farming map system if its more invested but thats another story)

@telu
Yes, both points are correct.
D1 has unfortunately lost its purpose because of the current state of the meta. Having boxes with random Biosphere armors there would be nice, but adding runes or waters could create a new problem once CH1 comes out, due to the combo with the Biosphere ring tied to new gefenia fields.
I see Nif2 the same way you do. To me, its not really an endgame map, but rather an easy one with good income. The issue is that its too good too early, which sets expectations too high and leads people to not even bother farming the actual endgame fields or even most midtier ones.

“Too early” is subjective imo, for new players niff2 is an achievement.
And it’s good that players have a choice between farming their mats and farming the money. Sometimes you want to chill and be able to progress on your gear without too much effort and niff is perfect for that, but if you wanna walk the extra mile to get the item yourself it’ll always be more worth.
Idk I might be wrong but I think things are ok as they are, even though I love farming on D1 and I would love for the map to give me more rewards I’m fine if it stays like this.

Idk man… I finally geared up my character to OH mjol, but find it still more profitable in Nif2. I wouldn’t have farmed in D1 for reputation now (to engrave my armor) if I didn’t buy the depth armor at 1b last year (I stopped playing for close to a year). I think it make sense to buff the end game dungeon a bit, at least make it on par or slightly better than nif2
