Increase/Rebalance of viable farming maps

I mentioned this in a previous thread I created, but I wanted to create a new thread since it fits more as a new thread. The previous thread is already tbd, but I wanted to open up this one to gather more discussion and also recommendations for other maps

I saw the changes as part of https://forum.muhro.eu/d/258-patch-notes-39-02-june-2022, and I would also like to suggest an increase in the Shadowdecon, Zelunium, and Etel dust drops in Power Twisted Plains and Mjolnir Underground Caves maps as well as a possible increase in mob density. Both are supposed to be late game maps (with higher level requirements than nif 2 and clock tower) but are rarely accessed since they are completely outshined in viability of farming against those two.

Currently, the main maps seem to be pretty crowded which is a natural result of the increase in population. But it has appeared to cause a lot of frustration regarding ksing and such like that. I think that it would be a good idea to increase the drops in some maps so that people are incentivized to spread out instead of all trying to farm on the same limited number of maps. I put Power Twisted Plains and Mjolnir Underground Caves, as they are higher-level maps, but there could be some other maps as well that can be considered that I would love to hear suggestions for!

Another cool benefit is more people would be farming and selling those Mjolnir’s, which some players might want but not be able to farm themselves.

(that was my experience as a new player, and they’re still rarely sold and in low quantities)

There’s an upcoming rebalance for a lot of maps coming to kRO this September. The number could still change from what I’ve read, but maybe this could answer the issue?

I totally agree with Choi, making mores maps available/good to farm is better for the server economy and QoL

I don’t feel like just giving away shadowdecon and Zelunium is the answer to this problem. I just don’t like it. Seems very one sided.

@EvilLumi What do you propose?

@EvilLumi - I don’t think it’s really giving away these materials. There’s already precedence for shadowdecon and zelunium drops being increased in specific maps which made some maps as well as precedence for mob density increases.

There may be a small net increase in shadowdecon and zelunium farmed just because maps will be less contested, but, theoretically, this wouldn’t be an increase in the amount of shadowdecon and zelunium people will farm, as my suggestion was to increase drop rates for these in maps that people rarely ever farm in. Instead, the goal of the change is to make it so that people now have viable options for farming in other maps rather than just farming in the same 2-3 dungeons that are currently being farmed. People who were farming in one place are just now able to farm in another place.

@Nixx I just came across this, I’d also propose to wait for that change to finalize.

Here’s a google-translated excerpt from the relevant section:

Especially the CTB-nerf seems pretty sizeable, which should make the other maps more viable again in comparison.

@cruro That looks like it’ll make the game more grindy tho D:
I really don’t like these changes much, especially the ctb one

@cruro This is the problem with following official changes. They go up and down, and create this fabricated “change” which still results in the same, if not a worse, viable option to farm. No one is ever going to be happy unless the GMs decide to enforce specific drop rates regardless of changes to the official kro. We need balance, and gravity will not offer that. It needs to be done through our staff.

I personally believe episode 18+ maps need to be adjusted, permanently. The balance in this game is really stupid. We are being charged the same amount, if not more, to enchant some of our old content gear, as if it matters. This is a really weird server, and I would have to write a book if I’m to really pronounce the problems with it. Fortunately, I prefer not to waste my time anymore. You’re welcome, Misao

@cruro main concern with this is that we already have custom drop rates for a lot of maps, so I don’t know if we can just follow the official changes anymore. Also, it seems like those changes would just cause more people to farm in thanatos 12 and nif2, making farming even more concentrated imo.

@Choi actually we have very few custom drops on these maps. The patch you linked was an attempt to make the majority of drops similar to official.

I’ve stated it somewhere but not here yet.
We like the idea of the official changes to monster density but we don’t like the rates.
Therefore we will update many maps similar to official but with our own idea in mind. (Usually less decrease and bigger increase compared to official)

As result we hope that more maps will become attractive as a farming source.

@Muh Got it! It was before I joined, so I might have misunderstood the post. Sorry if I said anything untrue.

Great to hear; I’m super excited for the change. Thank you!
