Description:
Currently, Darkness Ashes is obtained exclusively through Endless Tower / Endless Cellar, at a rate of 1 unit every 25 floors completed.
This suggestion proposes adding Darkness Ashes as a Board Quest reward, obtainable through the exchange of Instance Coins, following the existing Board Quest reward structure.
Suggested cost: 10 Instance Coins → 1 Darkness Ashes
This addition would introduce an alternative acquisition method, without removing or replacing the current Endless Tower progression.
Why is this a good idea?
Adds a meaningful long-term sink for Instance Coins.
Encourages consistent participation in instances, not only Endless Tower runs.
Helps players with limited time or difficulty reaching higher Endless floors.
Integrates naturally with the existing Board Quest progression system.
Preserves Endless Tower as a relevant and rewarding activity.
What risks or downsides does it have?
If the exchange cost is too low, it could encourage repetitive instance resets and selective farming of high-value MVP floors, allowing players to bypass normal progression.
Setting the cost at 10 Instance Coins mitigates this risk by tying the reward to sustained gameplay, rather than short-cycle or abusive farming patterns.
Additional Info:
The Board Quest system already functions as a centralized hub for long-term progression through Instance Coins.
Adding Darkness Ashes to Board Quests aligns with this design, offering a controlled alternative acquisition path while keeping Endless Tower / Endless Cellar as the primary and intended source of the item.

Multiply by the number of alts/characters you want. For his case, it was 14, so he was generating 532 coins.
With other additions of instances generating more coins, and purchasing ashes of darkness from the shop you can easily focus on specific sought after MVPs. You mentioned it yourself, what stops someone from making 50 characters, and only having to use 500 coins to target kiel, thanatos etc.
In renewal, eden gear 4th jobs can easily clear ec/et, and if players cant clear the lower floors in the first place, I don’t think they would stand a chance in the higher floors. EC and ET also provides eden coins if you take the boards.
With the current system of doing instances repetitively with alts. This suggestion is far too broken. If someone wants to target kiel etc. they should complete the instance itself, and use the ashes by doing so.

@aewuu
I left 10 or more Instance Coins available in exchange for Darkness Ashes.
Despite everything, even if this suggestion is accepted and players only farm the floors with the best MVPs, there is no guarantee that an MVP card will drop immediately. We all know that MVP drops are not easy—sometimes you can summon 2,000 MVPs using Bloody Branches and still not get a single card.

Yes, but there is a difference between a guaranteed encounter of a specific mvp than a randomized mvp from a huge pool of summons.
Take a look at lasgand instance for example. That’s a guaranteed encounter. Card went from one of the most sought after to just barely reaching 3b.
The majority of the current instance coin shop’s theme is do the content, get rewarded for completing that instance, claim for additional resource/support for gear crafting/etc. The only exception of this is sky fortress 1h ticket. But even then, that actually promotes running the instance/completing the content multiple times instead of “blitzing” through to get to kiel and switching out a character and repeating.
